Surface Variables: The Biggest Unknown
The first surprise often comes from the installation surface
itself. Walls that appear smooth in photos may be textured,
uneven, bowed, or out of plumb. This is why site surveys are
critical, identifying potential challenges early can ensure
accurate planning, fabrication, and installation. Paint thickness,
prior repairs, and substrate condition all affect how signage
mounts and aligns.

Brick, drywall, glass, tile, metal panels, and stucco behave
differently. Installers who understand substrates can
anticipate challenges, select appropriate mounting methods,
